"Mark and Ethan are on top of their game! I had no idea how to ask them for a quote because I had no idea how the pool fence should look. I just knew that we wanted easy access and non obstructed. When I watched them swap ideas, and then face time one of their designer/engineers back at the office, I knew we had found the right group. They showed up on time, worked into the night, and then decided they were not happy with one of the sections. Mark said he would be back in a few days with new parts and make it right. Boy did they ever! Great people, great craftsmanship, and great results. Thank you guys for a wonderful experience. 😍"

"These guys know how to get it DONE! I needed a pretty extensive amount of care and work done as we have a large property and pool. I quoted a lot of companies and didn't necessarily feel comfortable with any price or service until I chatted with Ethan. Best company for this kind of work in Austin I have had to date and it's not even close. Good price, quick process and very person able team. I highly recommend Ethan and Mark!!"

Pool Fencing Around Lake Travis, Answered

Local questions about Travis County code, cost, sloped lots and installation around the lake.

Will a mesh pool fence hold up to the wind coming off the lake?
Yes, and this is where All-Safe stands apart from cheaper mesh. The fence is not a curtain hung between posts. Rigid aluminum poles, each with a solid core and an internal dual I-beam, are set into sleeves drilled into your deck about every three feet, and the mesh is tensioned across them. Open, exposed lots above the water are common around the lake and the fence stays taut on them. A young child cannot push it over or climb through it, and only an adult can lift a section out. That engineered frame plus taut mesh is what makes it ASTM F2286 compliant.
Does Travis County or the City of Lakeway require a pool fence?
Yes. Travis County and the lake area cities, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Lago Vista and Point Venture among them, enforce the International Residential Code, which requires a barrier at least 48 inches tall around a residential pool with self-closing and self-latching gates. ASTM F2286 compliant removable mesh satisfies that. Several lake area HOAs have architectural rules on top of the code, and insurers frequently ask for a barrier before they will write a policy on a home with a pool.
How much does a pool fence cost around Lake Travis?
Most lake area installs run between $2,500 and $4,500, though lake properties sit at the upper end of that more often than not. The reason is not the postcode, it is the pool: they tend to be larger, more of them are freeform or infinity edge, and terraced decking usually means more than one gate. Every quote includes professional installation, a self-closing safety gate and our workmanship guarantee, using genuine All-Safe hardware. We measure on site and give you a firm written price before anything is ordered.
Can you fence a pool on a steep or terraced lot?
Yes, and around the lake it is the normal job rather than the exception. Pools here are often cut into a slope, with the deck stepping down in levels and a retaining wall or a drop on the water side. We set pole sleeves to follow the grade instead of fighting it, adjust section widths at the steps so the mesh stays tensioned, and position the fence line back from any edge rather than right on it. Where the deck is engineered over fill we check what we are drilling into before we drill. This is the part that is worth an on site measurement rather than a phone quote.
We rent the house out. Does a removable fence work for a short term rental?
It is one of the better arguments for removable mesh. Guests arrive with children you have never met, and a barrier that is up by default protects them without anyone having to remember anything. Because it is removable, you can take sections down for your own use and reset them before the next booking. Worth checking directly with your insurer and your city, since requirements for rented properties differ from owner occupied ones and vary by jurisdiction. Several rental platforms and most insurers ask about pool barriers, and having a compliant one is usually the simpler answer.
Which Lake Travis communities do you cover?
All of them, on both shores. Lakeway, Bee Cave, Steiner Ranch, Hudson Bend, Lago Vista, Point Venture, Volente, Briarcliff, Spicewood and The Hills, plus Jonestown and the surrounding Travis County acreage. We group west side work rather than making one trip at a time, so a free on site measurement is usually a few days out rather than a wait.

Pool Fencing by Lake Travis Community

Terrain changes sharply from one side of the lake to the other, and it changes how a fence gets installed. Here is what we usually find.

Lakeway

Terraced lots stepping down toward the water, with pools cut into the slope and decking built out over fill or retaining walls. Fence lines follow the level changes rather than cutting across them, and we confirm what is under the deck before drilling. Mature live oaks are protected under local rules, so routing works around root zones.

Bee Cave

Newer master planned building with generous lots and a lot of limestone, travertine and stamped concrete decking. It core drills cleanly and predictably. Several neighbourhoods here have architectural committees, so black mesh on black poles is the usual choice for staying unobtrusive against the landscaping.

Steiner Ranch

Greenbelt backing lots where the yard often ends at a preserve boundary rather than a fence line. Pools sit close to the house, runs are shorter, and gate placement matters more than total footage because the path from the back door to the water is short.

Hudson Bend & Point Venture

Older lake properties on compact lots, some of them original cottages that have been rebuilt around the pool. Access is the constraint more than the install: narrow driveways and tight side gates, so we plan how material reaches the back before the day.

Lago Vista & Jonestown

North shore acreage, larger and more rural, with pools frequently set well away from the house. Longer runs, and the ground is often a mix of decomposed granite, lawn and hard decking along a single fence line. We install on all three.

Spicewood & Briarcliff

Rural Hill Country lots with cedar, caliche and rock close to the surface. Drilling is slower here and occasionally needs a different approach mid run, which is why we would rather see the ground than quote it from a photo.

Volente & The Hills

Steep grades down toward the water on one side, established golf course community on the other. Two quite different jobs: on the steep lots the priority is keeping the fence line back from the drop, and on the flatter ones it is following a curved deck edge without gapping at the corners.
